MTUSYSADM Acquisitions SubCommittee (DRAFT) ----------------------------------- 1) In order to facilitate the proposed process below, it will be necessary to propose an ammendment to the constitution to create a standing subcommittee called the Acquisitions Subcomittee. It's pervue will be the following: 2) In accordance with the CAC rewrite committee, all purchases of "computing related" equipment (as defined by the CAC probably by commodity codes), must be signed by the system administrator of that respective departmemt/division. 3) In addition, every purchase that meets the following criteria - must be presented to the mtusysadm acquisitions subcommittee prior to signature: a) includes and single item on the purchase req over $25,000. b) includes an item with quantity 15 or greater with a per item price pf $250 or greater. 4) Every system administrator has the right and option to bring any and every purchase req that they have questions about before the acquisitions subcommittee for comment. 5) Purchase reqs submitted for comment will be discussed at the following system administrator council meeting after submission to the subcommittee. 6) In the event that the next system administration meeting is cause for the delay of the purchase and that does not meet the timeline for the purchasing project; the subcommittee can circulate for comment across the mtusysadm mailing list. 7) In the event that no objections are raised, then the purcahse req "passes". But in the event that an objection and/or caution is raised, then a form letter will be drafted to the parties interested in the purchase noting the council's problems and cautions.
