0. Recommend an information security framework based on best practices in industry and other universities. This is to be done in consultation with the Security Officer and Senior Telcom Engineer at MTU.
1. Investigate the need for firewalls on campus. This information should include details on what risks, perceived or real, the departments are concerned about. Determine what technologies or services departments have been unable to provide because firewalls are not currently available.
2. Investigate security risks associated with not providing firewalls.
3. Evaluate firewall technology and various vendors and make recommendations from those evaluations.
4. Evaluate the costs associated with implementation of firewalls.
